About Us

We Know Emergency Medicine

NEED Physicians LLC was founded by seasoned healthcare executives and emergency physicians with decades of experience and deep knowledge of the mechanics and dynamics of running Emergency Departments efficiently and productively. Headquartered in Boston, NEED specializes in placing top-tier emergency physicians at hospitals across New England to cover patient surges and open shifts. NEED Physicians is also the exclusive distributor and value-added reseller for physician scheduling leader MetricAid ™ in the United States.

At NEED we understand that staffing and creating schedules for emergency departments can be challenging. The ebbs and flows of patient visits can put pressure on ED Chiefs and staffing directors who need to maintain quality care delivery while publishing schedules that meet physician wellness goals and demonstrate equitable shift distribution. When gaps in coverage emerge, NEED fills them with physicians that have the right experience and cultural fit.

Intermittent staffing requires the right physician-hospital match from the start; there is no time for trial-and-error. Our extensive Discovery Process documents all aspects of emergency medicine, including: culture, case mix, patient volume, workflows and technologies.

We recruit the best and brightest emergency specialists from leading medical schools and residency programs, as well as physicians with experience at top-tier hospitals and academic medical centers. Our unique approach enables hospitals to utilize physicians they might not ordinarily be able to access.

Through referrals and recommendations, our team personally vets emergency physicians to confirm that they have the skills, credentials, certifications and experience to help hospitals achieve their goals.

Creating and managing physician schedules are some of the most challenging aspects of running an Emergency Department. Accommodating preferences to accomplish physician wellness goals; allocating shifts equitably; and being able to transparently demonstrate shift distribution are important factors in generating department schedules. COVID added another set of variables to the mix — the need to remove providers who had fallen hill, or needing to suddenly staff a brand-new testing site — put strains on an already complicated process.

NEED has joined forces with MetricAid to make an intelligent hybrid scheduling platform available to Emergency Departments in the United States. As MetricAid’s exclusive U.S. partner, NEED helps simplify the scheduling process through MetricAid’s solution which combines the knowledge of experienced schedulers with the efficiency and scalability of its proprietary technology.

NEED provides hospitals and healthcare centers with next-generation scheduling solutions as well as top quality physicians on an intermittent basis to ensure complete and efficient scheduling, physician wellness, continuity of patient care and revenue preservation.
